Financial Independence IS Possible - Part I

By Dr. Iris Fanning

Steps to YOUR Financial Freedom.

1. Realize Financial Independence Can be Achieved! There is a difference between a wish and a plan. Many people spend time worrying and wondering about their financial future. Yet only about 5% of Americans reach financial independence even though we are the richest people on the planet. So, is it time for you to KNOW and BECOME financially independent? If so, then it's also time to THINK, PLAN & ACT your way to financial independence.

2. FOCUS on Being Financially Independent.

Invest $1,000 - ? annually in your own skills training in order to double your income.

Shift your ideas about money. If you believe that money is bad or rich people are greedy it's time for a change. Financial abundance is joyful, fulfilling and fun.

Make substantial changes in your spending habits. Cut your expenses by 25-40%. Cutting expenses is a step in FREEDOM! When you cut expenses you: move toward your dreams; aren't chained to a "bad" job or relationship; fund your ideas and plans of being financially independent.

Ken & I have experienced two major periods where we drastically cut expenses. Reducing our savings/investments wasn't an option. Both of these experiences have the end result of greater opportunity, fun, fulfillment and joy! The first time we cut expenses was when our son was accepted to a private mid & high school. The tuition was steep. We paid for it all ourselves without accumulating debt. Second, Ken was laid off and decided to develop his own business. We cut expenses so he could launch a now successful business.

Here are just a few of the things that you can do:

* Keep your cars. Make sure you keep vehicles looking & driving like new. Friends who ride with us comment that our cars must be about 3-4 years old. Our cars are now 13 & 15 years old. That's the kind of care we give our vehicles. (Have you read the Millionaire Next Door? Some of your least ostentatious neighbors are wealthy and living their dreams!)
* Highlight or color your hair at home. Highlighting or coloring your hair at home can save about $140 a month or $1740 annually. Home color is about $10/month or $120/year.
* Teach your children the difference between filling an empty heart through things and nourishing WHO they are through their own creativity and contribution. Children/teens are becoming increasingly isolated by "things" given to them from their parents i.e.: a TV or computer in their room; a cell phone or text messaging especially with unlimited use; a car; or designer clothing. Cut expenses and spend more time nurturing your children/teens involvement, relationships, creativity, and the joy of being who they are!
* Eat out only 1-2 times per week. Eating meals at home is great for connecting with your family, is higher in nutrition and saves money!
* Stop the Starbucks. I was spending $3.84 X 5 days a week on my Venti Decaf Mocha. That was $921 a year. Also that beverage has 480 calories! So, I'm saving 115,200 calories a year!
* Muffle the Mouse. We now have 24/7 access to shopping. It can be fun and expensive. Either place a budget for online spending or avoid surfing the online stores.

Your turn. What can you do starting TODAY to cut your expenses by 25-40%? Write it down now. <

3. EDUCATE YOURSELF ABOUT THE FINANCIAL ARENA.

Ignorance is not an excuse. If you want to be financially independent, you can't say "I'm just not good at/interested in the finances.

There are several enjoyable paths to take to increase Financial Intelligence. Here are just a few.
* There are many good, simple books on: how money works, compounding interest, taxes and investments.
* Many financial advisors offer free classes. Check your newspaper and business section for offerings. Be careful to pick classes that are pressure free. If it sounds to good to be true, it is.
* Get savvy and real about your own finances. List the following: Assets, Liabilities, Income, Expenses and Savings.
* Start associating with people who you like and do have money and learn from them.
* Focus on what you WANT in the financial arena. become courageous, knowledgeable and action oriented.
* Drop the fear/worry habit around money. Know that you are an adult and capable of taking care of yourself and being abundant in your life.

Your action steps for this week include: 1) Commit to one thing that will increase your knowledge i.e. a book, seminar, tape series.; 2) Look at your current finances with your assets, liabilities, income, expenses and savings; 3) Choose 1-3 ways to cut your expenses; 4) Take 3-5 minutes a day to envision what you WANT in terms of finances. Really envision your life, lifestyle, values, needs and FEELINGS of having more than enough. Write down what you discover in this exercise.

Get ready to learn even more In Part II!

Credit Bureau Basics

By Mansi Aggarwal

Credibility counts. And no one knows it better then the credit bureaus. These are the places where you can get a rating to certify your creditworthiness. And of course they charge you for it. The approach is simple enough. They keep an eye on the credit transaction that a person enters into and then its repayment. The banks and credit card companies use this information before striking a business with an individual. Credit bureaus are not watchdogs.

They are just observers who want to know if a borrower is respecting the borrowed monies. They have to keep a track of how borrowed money is used. Trans Union, Equifax etc. are some of USAs credit bureaus. They are governed under an act and also under a mandate to revive a persons reputation if he can get a hiatus of at least seven years after one bad credit. But if one goes bankrupt then the time for him to prove his creditworthiness is an extra three years.

The average American lives under some kind of debt all the time. The number of bills that flows in through the letter-slit of every home at the beginning of every month shows this. The piling up of bills can leave any one dumbfound. A proper management of the bills has to be understood in order to clear them. The to-do-list approach is one such way to get tem off your shoulder. Pen them down in order of last day of payment. The bills for services that sustain a person have to be paid in priority. The gas, telephone bills are some such debts. Tax too finds itself on a higher podium then the others. No bill is les important however; some are more important then other. So the ones that are not, can be kept at a secondary priority. It varies from a person to person in deciding, which is which.

A monthly budget has always been a good tactic to handle overspending. At the beginning of the month expenditure list must be made. This works as a guideline throughout the month and also a corrective parameter. A budget is not a very complex document. The sources of income and expenditure have to be listed and then it has to be calculated which exceeds which and by how much?

Its always better to be in the good books of the credit bureaus. And for doing so it becomes important what the secret eyes are watching. A model proposed by Fair Isaac & Company is used to figure out the credit rating. It includes data about outstanding debts of a person, since when is the person running on credit, what types of credit dies he takes and what kinds of accounts thus he operate with. Apart from these there are many more but the rating program keeps these into top priority.

Many people do not have a clear picture of what a credit bureau does. A CB is never biased against the minorities, which is a big misconception that it is. These are absolutely secret services and they never disclose the information about a person about any other one. So now if you want to get your money credibility right, get in to the good lists of the credit raters.

Financial Results of Mexican Illegal Alien Boycott Are In

By Lance Winslow

The big boycott of the illegal aliens and all the legal Mexicans in the country who either support them in spirit or have family members that are not yet legal and are harboring these criminals now has results. The financial results from retailers in the United States of America are now in for the Mayday Communist Holiday boycott, rally, demonstration and protest and they have been tallied up. Well it is time for a Reality Check People; A different Perspective...

"On May 1st, as a result of the Mexican boycott, national retailers reported 4.2% lower sales for the day, with a 67.8% reduction in shoplifting."

What this shows the casual observer is that the boycott shows how little these illegal aliens contribute to the over all community and it also shows that the Hispanic Community and their buying power is not as much as they hype it to be. And these people need to stop blowing smoke up everyone's rear end about how we cannot function as a nation without illegal aliens, because it is simply BS.

Come legally or do not come at all. They wanted to show us all how much they mean to our GDP and how we cannot live without them. What they really ended up proving is that it is just a lot of hot air and it is time for America to stand up and enforce the laws on our books. Oh yah and throw out of office any politician who gets in the way, consider all this in 2006.

Freedom from Financial Troubles with Debt Reduction

By Alex Jonnes

Debts, loans, finances taken from outside, these things give you financial support when you really need it. But had you ever thought that repaying them is also your responsibility. The interest rate which you pay on these debts is the extra amount which your pocket is bearing. Larger the number of debts, more you have to repay. Debt reduction is the name given to a tool for getting your debts in control.

Debt reduction is the reduction of debts either by paying them off or by reducing them in numbers through debt consolidation. Debt reduction can also be termed as the synonym of debt consolidation which means to lessen the number of debts by paying them off or consolidating them into a single debt at a low rate of interest. This brings down your monthly expenditure to a large extent as paying numerous debts at variable interest rates can be a costly affair as compared to paying the same amount of debt at a single but low interest rate.

Financial agencies and consultants are there to help you out in debt reduction. There are lots of professional consultants to advice you. They will analyze your financial status and prepare a debt management plans for you. They will plan your budget while discussing it with you. They will talk to your lenders for making negotiations with them on repayment terms and amount. They will also suggest you to go for debt consolidation loan which is the most effective tool for enhancing your credit score.

Debt reduction agencies provide a service where you are required to pay the total monthly installments at low interest rates to these agencies. They further divide this amount among your lenders according to their share. This gives you freedom from calculating each lenders share separately. These agencies charge certain amount of commission for such services.

The important step for debt reduction is to choose a good agency to hire. This needs some effort from you in visiting different agencies knowing about their services and charges. Beware of frauds and choose the once who are in the profession for a noticeable amount of time.

There are certain things which you need to take care off like:

Dont use too many credit cards, use a debit card instead.

Avoid credit purchases as much as possible.

Plan a budget as per your income and spend accordingly.

Try to save some amount from you income for bad times.

With all such precaution debt reduction can act as a savior for you. It can give you the inner peace you are looking for by getting over with your debts.

Free Money for Your Retirement?

By Stephen Nelson

It can be more than a little discouraging to start making retirement planning calculations. Youll usually find that to achieve the annual retirement income you want, you need to be saving a lot more than is practical.

Suppose, for example, that you use a program like Quicken or Microsoft Money to determine that your retirement savings should equal to $5,200 a yearwhich is the same as $450 a month. (This savings amount will produce roughly $15,000 a year of retirement income if you save for 20 years, increase your savings with inflation, and earn 9 percent.)

Okay. That's great information to have. But practically speaking, where do you find this money? Well. first you want to get the free money that's available.

The first source of free retirement money

While $450 a month seems like a lot of money, you may be able to come up with this figure more readily than you might think. Say, for example, that you work for an employer whos generous enough to match your 401(k) contributions by 50 percent. In other words, for every dollar you contribute, your employer contributes $.50. In this case, you need to come up with $300 a month to have $450 a month added to your retirement savings. To make this calculation, you divide the monthly savings amount, $450, by 1 + the employers matching percentage, 50%. The formula $450/(1+50%) equals $300.

The second source of free retirement money

Also suppose that you pay federal and state income taxes of 33 percent and that you can deduct your 401(k) contributions from your income. In this case, the actual monthly out-of-pocket amount you need to come up with equals $200, not $450. To make this calculation, you multiply your share of the needed monthly savings, $300 in this example, by 1minus the 33% marginal tax rate, which equals 67%

In this case, the actual amount you need to come up with on a monthly basis equals $200 because $300 times 67% equals (roughly) $200.

Sometimes, most of your retirement savings money can come from others

Admittedly, $200 a month is still a lot of money. But its also a lot less than the $450-per-month savings you need to add to your retirement savings. In fact, most of the money in this example you need to save comes from other sources!

The preceding calculations argue for two tactics when saving for retirement. First, if an employer offers to match your contributions to something like a 401(k) plan, it will almost always make sense to accept the offerunless your employer is trying to force you to make an investment that is not appropriate for you.

TIP If you do want to contribute $300 a month to a 401(k) plan and need to reduce your income taxes withheld by $100 a month to do so, talk to your employers payroll department for instructions. You may need to file a new W-4 statement and increase the number of personal exemptions claimed.

Second, any time you get a tax deduction for contributing money to your retirement savings, its almost certainly too good a deal to pass up. As described in the preceding example, you can use the income tax savings because of the deduction to boost your savings so they provide for the desired level of retirement income.

Essential Preparations Before Seeking Venture Capital

By Yasheve Miller

The line in the sand has been drawn. Youve vowed to never step foot back into that office alive again after working the same dead end job for ten years. Its time to start that business you know for sure will succeed. All you need is to dedicate those sixty hours a week to your own bottom line. Theres only one roadblock. You have no money and the bank has already denied you for several other loans. All is not lost. Seek the help you need from those venture capital firms or angel investors you have heard so much about at meetings.

A venture capital firm is a collection of investors looking to throw their money into the next great idea that will grant them generous returns. With their money, your restaurant, retail store, or latest invention transforms from a day dream into a reality. Several options of repayment, ownership, and terms are discussed between you and your angel investors on how you will reward them for believing in your idea. First, you have to win their confidence.

The most important part of your business is your business plan. Before you approach a venture capital firm, do your homework. Transfer it from your brain to paper. Your goal is to create a business plan that will motivate investors to write your company name on that blank check. Also, in writing your business plan, you will discover how much you know or dont know about the adventure in which you will embark. Or you may find the concept is not as fabulous as you imagined.

Start with research. Intense study uncovers little known nuances about your new chosen industry and fills holes in your concept. Identify your competitors. Dissect their company products, services and policies. What dont they offer that you can implement into your business concept? Find a niche in the market that will set you apart from others who may be seeking the same clients, customers and investors you want to attract.

Next, examine the industry trends. Analyze the data. Find out when sales and profits are at their lowest. Are you merging into the gift basket business that suffers during the summer, after mothers day? Brainstorm ideas you can include in your plan to overcome those industry wide obstacles.

Use your data to make logical predictions of future industry trends. Can you predict a disaster like the dotcom failure at the end of the twentieth century? Your potential investor friends will want to be shown the money. Show it to them in standard financial and cash flow statements.

Now, come back to the beginning and write a two-page summary of the company. This will serve as the introduction to your business plan. Some experts call it the Executive Summary. I call it the sales pitch.

Your summary will be the first section investors read about your business. If it doesnt sell them, then it becomes the last thing they read about your business.

Take your time, do your research and make sure your business plan sells, sells, sells!

The Uncovered Secrets for Starting a New Business and Getting Finance for a Running Business

By Mary Wise

However, applying for a business loan is not an easy task and there are many things you need to know before making a decision on this matter.

Unsecured Loans

Unsecured Business loans can provide finance to deal with almost any situation. Loan amounts can reach up to $400.000 or even more. This kind of loan requires a good business income and credit score since there is no collateral backing up the loan.

The loan amount you will be able to request and get approved for will then be determined by your business credit score and history, unless of course you decide to request a personal loan instead. In that case your credit score and history will be taken into consideration.

Unsecured Business loans carry higher interest rates than secured business loans because there is a higher risk for the lender. But if your business doesnt have an asset that can be used as collateral or you choose not to risk repossession then, an unsecured business loan is the right option.

Secured Loans

Secured Business loans on the other hand do require collateral but they have lower interest rates and longer repayment programs since the lender doesnt have to worry because he can always claim his money by taking legal actions to repossess the asset guaranteeing the loan.

Though usually houses, apartments, buildings, etc, are used as collateral there are other options for a business loan. There are certain titles, machinery and other business assets that can be used as collateral for securing a loan.

Always bear in mind that since secured loans carry lower interest rates than unsecured loans, are thus the best option if you do have an asset to use as collateral. Applying for a secured loan instead of an unsecured loan will save you thousands of dollars in interests.

Different Purposes

Business loans are usually used for buying new equipment, moving business to a larger workplace, financing production, financing sell, marketing, undertaking new projects, paying for legal fees or taxes, and almost any other business need you can think of.

Requirements

Requirements vary according to the loan amount requested, the type of loan, business income, business market, business credit score and history and most importantly, the lender. For running businesses there are fewer requirements as a regular income can be proved by showing that the business has been running for at least three years. However the firms credit report will be pulled. For new business loans the personal income and credit score will be taken into account instead of the firms.

There are many online lenders offering business loans at very reasonable rates. You can search the net for business loans and request the lenders loan quotes in order to compare their offers and make a conscious decision. Pay special attention to the small print, due to hidden fees, what may seem a great offer might end up being a bad deal.

Mary Wise, a professional consultant with twenty years in the financial field, helps people in the process of securing personal loans, mortgage, refinance or consolidation loans and preventing consumers from falling into the hands of fraudulent lenders. You can visit her site and get aid for Business Loans regardless of your credit. If the link doesnt work, just copy badcreditloanservices.com and paste it in your browsers address bar.

Ensuring Your Share Of The College Savings Plans

By Sky Joe

Are you on the constant look out for ways to save money for your child's college education? Have you done your research and ready to work towards your target? If not, you may wish to consider putting your extra dollars into one of the College Savings Plans that are easily available.

There are a lot of benefits for having a college savings plan, which include exemption from taxes, flexible contribution options, parental control and minimal impact on eligibility for need-based financial aid. Most states have their own college savings plans, but you do not have to enroll in the plan in your state. You should start considering plans provided in your own state, especially if they offer tax advantages. There are also other factors that you will need to consider when making comparisons, which include expenses and investing options.

One of the major advantages of such plans is that they are usually exempt from federal taxes. Earnings are tax-deferred and are not subject to capital gains taxes. Expenses used to pay for tuition, room and board, fees, books, are also exempt from federal income tax. Most states offer tax advantages, and you should enroll for the plan in your state. In addition to these income tax benefits, College Savings plans can be a valuable estate planning tool. For instance, the accelerated gift option allows you to average gifts over $11,000 per beneficiary over a five year period with no federal gift tax. In other words, you can contribute up to $55,000 per beneficiary in one year with no gift tax. Contributions are immediately removed from the donor's gross taxable estate (and included in the estate of the beneficiary).

Apart from offering tax advantages, these plans also provide investment options that are suitable for both the aggressive and conservative investors. The different portfolio options are open to the saver according to their risk appetite. You may also rest assured that established investment companies, such as Vanguard and Fidelity, usually manage these plans.

Another feature of the savings plan is that the parent has control over the account management, not the child. Even if the child decides to not go to college, they do not have access to the funds. Instead, the account owner can get his or her money back but there is a small penalty incurred. Thus, this makes sure that the money is always under parental control and well look after.

There is also the flexibility of contributions options where anyone can contribute money on behalf of a beneficiary. Hence, this provides the perfect educational present that your friends or relatives can give. In addition, the minimum investment amount required to open an account is usually lower than mutual funds require. This is to allow the lower income families to set up an account for their children as well.

States set their own contribution limits for college savings plans. Most states base their limit on an estimate of the amount of money needed for seven years of post-secondary education. In addition, most states allow you to regularly transfer funds from your savings account to your college savings plans. There are even other states that offer the option of payroll deductions.

As you can see, there are many benefits to a college savings plan. If you are seriously thinking of saving up for your child's future educations, I advise you to start right now so that you get to enjoy the magic of compounding!

Investing - Are Your Company Retirement Benefits In Jeopardy?

By Jeffery Voudrie

In years gone by, when someone retired from a large company they didnt have to worry about losing their retirement benefits. Thats no longer the case. Being faced with ever increasing competition, many large companies are changing their benefit programs. If this hasnt affected you yet, it soon will. Read on to find out how.

Did you know that it costs General Motors over $1,000 per vehicle just to cover retiree benefits? A few years ago, a steel company only had 20,000 current employees but had over 70,000 former employees receiving retirement benefits. To survive, companies have to cut costs everywhere they can, including cutting or eliminating some retiree benefits.

Retirees are understandably nervous. But not all of your company benefits are at risk. For those retired, you shouldnt be too concerned about losing your pension. A pension is the retirement benefit that is designed to pay the retiree a set amount of money each month for the rest of their life. Should your old employer go belly up there is little chance your pension will be affected. In these cases, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. takes over the pension payments.

You also arent in danger of losing your 401(k). Even if the company declares bankruptcy the money in your 401(k) is safeunless you had it all invested in company stock!

For those still working, you need to know that many companies are now terminating their pension programs for current employees, or requiring their employees work much longer to qualify. That means that more often, it is up to the employee to fund their own retirement out of their paycheck. Few are ready for this.

To put this in perspective, lets say you are 40-years old and have finally gotten serious about saving for retirement. You want enough so you can live off the interest--$50,000 per year. In order to retire at age 65, you will have to save over $20,000 per year!

The benefits most likely to be affected for retirees and current workers alike are medical benefits. Companies across the board, including large ones like General Motors, are reducing or eliminating the medical benefits that are available to retirees. Current workers are being expected to shoulder more and more of the health care burden. Retired or not, you will be faced with higher co-pays, larger premiums and reduced coverage. As a result, you must be prepared to pay several hundred dollars more each month for this coverage.

For instance, I have clients who retired from a major chemical company. A few years ago they only had to pay $60-$70 a month for that coverage. Now it is costing them several hundred dollars a month. Fortunately, they have the money to pay it. Many dont.

So what should you do? Retirees relying on company medical benefits need to be prepared for the real possibility that they will be reduced or disappear. This may change your financial situation so you need to keep it in mind when choosing investments. Avoid those with long time commitments and penalties to access your money.

Non-retirees need to realize that now, more than ever, it is their responsibility to provide for their retirement. Live below your means and set aside all you can.

Improve Financial Health Through Bad Credit Debt Consolidation

By Alex Jonnes

People tend to fall in debts in these days of easy availability of finance and liberal use of credit cards and as a consequence are labeled as having bad credit. Primary concern of these people is to eliminate debts as early as possible. An effective and popular way of eliminating previous debts, bad credit debt consolidation makes available required finance at easy terms and conditions to pay off debts. Lenders provide loan for bad credit debt consolidation taking into account different financial backgrounds of borrowers.

Borrowers are called having bad credit for various reasons. Such borrowers may have filed for bankruptcy; they may have faced payment default cases and county court judgments. This adverse credibility is reflected in borrowers credit score. FICO credit score ranges from 300 to 850. A bad credit is when credit score falls to 580 and below while a score of 720 and above is considered as secure for a loan offer. Though it is obvious that you have bad credit and your credit score is in negative territory, still before going for bad credit debt consolidation, it would be better if efforts are made in improving credit score. Lenders may relax terms and conditions if seriousness towards clearing debts is evident. Pay those easy debts for credit score improvements.

Bad credit debt consolidation is opted for clearing all debts in one time payment. The borrower takes loan that is at least equal to the amount of debts and pays off them either himself or through the new lender. There are many advantages of bad credit debt consolidation besides being debt free. Normally debts are of higher interest rate and therefore it results in higher monthly outgo towards installments. Since bad credit debt consolidation is done by taking a fresh lower interest rate loan, lots of money may be saved. As an alternate to monthly installments, borrowers can take a lump sum amount and clear debts in short period to save money on interest. Another method to lessen monthly installments is to pay interest only during debt consolidation loan period and pay balance at the end.

At what interest rate loan for bad credit debt consolidation can be availed will depend on repaying capacity of the borrower. Though loan for debt consolidation is generally offered at lower interest rate, still if he produces proof of sound financial standing or any source of steady income, lender may considerably reduce interest rate.

The biggest advantage of bad credit debt consolidation is that it enables borrowers in improving their credit score. Every monthly installment towards clearing off debts is recorded in credit report of the borrower.

Prefer applying online as this way you get numerous loan offers from as many lenders. You can easily pick up suitable loan package that has lower interest rate.

Bad credit debt consolidation enables you in eliminating all debts at low cost and in turn it improves credit score and credibility in the eyes of lenders. Make sure to pay monthly installments in time to avoid falling in yet another debt trap.

Guide to World Markets

It has been centauries since the countries of the world understood the interdependence of each on the other. The phenomena of globalization are one of the reasons of this interdependence. The countries are trading among each other through economic zones. Also the business in the stock market has gone Trans national. All the stock markets of the world make an impact on each others trading patterns. Thus stock exchanges are strong indicators of the international business. Another advantage, as it may be called to the business, is the difference in the labor costs in the different countries. The booming business of outsourcing is an offshoot of this concept. The outsourcing business is now moving from the business processes to the manufacturing too. The practices like interdependence of the stock exchanges and the phenomena of outsourcing are causing great concerns to the domestic companies. The impact of outsourcing on the domestic labor is drastic.

The stock exchange index is generally confined to one country. However there are some indices, which are found in many other countries of the world too. Americas Dow Jones and S&P 500 are some of the indices. Industry specific index can also be found. The Moran Stanley Biotech index is one such. They are referred to as specialty exchanges.

The NASDAQ in New York is the worlds first electronic exchange. Set up in 1971, it has approximately 3200 companies listed with it. There are several indexes in the NASDAQ with separate base numbers and for different companies listed in them. For example there is a NASDAQ 100 index. It has base number 125 and has been traded on since 1994. Then there is NASDAQ Composite where most of the companies do business.

London too is one of the business hubs of the world. The stock exchange is one of the most influential ones. The kings of international businesses have their home ground sin London and they operate their world business from there. Being one of the biggest human settlements in the United Kingdom, London has a business of over 117,000 million pounds. The London stock exchange has been in existence since 1698 when commodity trade was rampant in the country.

Nikkei 225 is the index of the Tokyos Stock Exchange. The markets can boast of being the technologically most advanced in Asia if not the world. Japan after the wrath of the war of 1945 has emerged out to become one of the controllers of world trade. The work culture in the country is unmatched by any country of the world. Probably this is the reason why it is has been the world business leader for a long time. Most blue-chip companies are listed on this market.

The hazards of speculative businesses are all around. The companies have created the tricks to trade out the non-productive scrip. Insider trading, for example, means floating false information in the market by those who are at the helm of affairs. The same misguides the traders. This has to be curbed by adding a deterrent to such practices.

Come Out From Financial Dilemma with Short Term Cash Loans

By Daniel Robinson

Studies have showed a tremendous increase in the demand of short term market fund as compared to long term market funds. And one of the most popular products of the short term market fund is short term cash loans.

Short term cash loans are the best source of finance when certain sudden expenses emerge and the person do not have sufficient funds to handle them. In such situation short term cash loans provide them with financial assistance to overcome and meet all the expense. Short term cash loans can be used for any personal purpose such as electricity bills, hospital bills, school fees etc.

The important elements of short term cash loan which constitute it are as follows:

Interest rates Interest rate forms the major portion of the cost involves in the short term cash loan. Short term cash loans carries high rate of interest as compared to the rate offered in other conventional loan in the market. The basic reason is that the lender doesnt ask for any sort of collateral. Rather in short term cash loan the person is obliged to provide post dated cheques to the lender which acts as security to the lender.

Repayment period Short term cash loans are for shorter period and they are generally repaid within 15 days to 30 days. The period for which short term cash loan has been taken can be easily extended if the person is not feeling comfortable or convenient to pay it on its due date. But, the lender can also charge his fees in order to extend the period of loan.

Terms and conditions Terms and conditions can be defined as rules which should not be broken when the loan deal is finalized. It is always recommended that the person should thoroughly read all the terms because a single unfavourable term can affect the cost of the loan.

Short term cash loan is also provided by online lenders. Even though, an amount applied for short term cash loan gets faster approval but if it is applied through online it further speed up the process of approval.

Short term cash loans do not consider the fact of bad credit of a person, in other words the person either has good credit or bad credit; he is eligible for the loan. But, every person applying for short term cash loans has to provide certain proofs such as his identity proof, income proof and financial status. And if the lender finds all the data provided satisfactory then, the lender approves the applied loan amount.

The End of Unlimited Lifetime Benefits in New Long Term Care Insurance Policies

By Clay Cotton

Prominent long term care insurance carrier Penn Treaty recently announced that it will discontinue offering the "unlimited lifetime" benefit option on all new policy forms as of 1/1/2007. Will other insurance companies follow suit? We think so, as the industry adjusts to changes in the all-too-real world of care and care giving.

With rising baby boomers life expectancies and broadening offerings in the care delivery systems "unlimited lifetime" benefits simply pose expanded and uncertain risk for insurers. This risk naturally translates to pricing which places "unlimited lifetime" benefit out of reach for the average consumer, so the insurers are opting to offer benefits which are limited to a fixed number of years payout or a limited "pool of money" payout.

This makes sense by insurance standards. Exposure to unlimited risk is not prudent for most companies, although some carriers may still choose to offer "unlimited lifetime" benefits to high net-worth clients.

Look for policies to focus more on 5-year, 4-year and 3-year benefits for long term care. This fits the common care profile, and 5-years of benefits would allow for transfer of assets under Medicaid guidelines set by the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, meaning an estate could be protected while still qualifying for Medicaid after 5 years of "private pay" through the insurance mechanism.

We expect more and more insurers to limit their exposure by eliminating old-fashioned "unlimited lifetime" benefits. This change affects newly purchased policies, not policies already in force, and is yet another adjustment as this industry comes to grips with changes in the world of long term care.

This comes on the heels of the initial round of industry adjustments reflected in the waves of premium rate increases from 2001-2006 as insurers corrected for the initial under pricing of policies sold in the 1990s, the first decade these policies were offered. Considering the likelihood of future claims due to the cold hard fact that nearly half the population will need long term care, insurers have a duty to remain financially sound in order to pay future long term care insurance claims. This just makes good business sense.

Consumer choices are changing, surely, yet a need still remains, the need to protect assets from the devastating costs of long term care by transferring the huge risk of care to insurers though the insurance mechanism. It's really pretty simple: The risk is very high, and so is the cost of care, and there is simply no other vehicle than insurance coverage to protect your savings and investments.

Internet users can arrange for free, comparative rate quotes from respected, top-quality companies by searching online for "long term care insurance buyers advocate".

Estate - Protect Your Beneficiarys Inheritance

By Jeffery Voudrie

An inheritance is the precious fruit of years of labor. It is an expression of love. Nowadays, more than ever, an inheritance is something that should be protected. All too often, inheritances are squandered or lost because of a lack of planning by those giving it. Read on to discover how to easily change that.

There are many dangers that can threaten the inheritance you leave your children or heirs. The number one concern of many of the people that I talk with is that an inheritance will be lost if the beneficiary gets divorced. In todays society, the probability of that occurring is greater than ever before, regardless of religious beliefs. They dread the thought of their money being lost to a departing spouse instead of remaining with their child or grandchildren.

An often overlooked danger that many people fail to recognize is the threat of loss from lawsuits or creditors claims. We live in a very litigious society. If the person receiving your estate is in even a simple car wreck, the chances are high that theyll be sued. Heaven forbid someone should die in the accident. The estate you left is like a pot of gold just waiting to be discovered by predatory lawyers.

Your heir could get into financial difficulty. A business could fail. Whether through mismanagement or unforeseen circumstances, if your heir gets into financial difficulty, creditors will go after the money inherited.

Receiving your inheritance could also cause your heir to lose benefits they would otherwise be entitled to. For instance, if disabled and receiving government benefits, receiving an inheritance could cause them to lose those benefits. There are times when the government would claim those funds in repayment for benefits previously paid. A college student could lose scholarships that are based on financial need, as well.

Its important to take a long-term perspective on the estate you leave behind. If handled properly, even a modest inheritance can be a legacy that will provide financial security to your loved ones for generations. Therefore, it makes sense to not have to pay Uncle Sam estate taxes every time the money passes from one generation to the next.

The person receiving your inheritance may already be financially successful. If their estate isnt already large enough to trigger estate taxes when they die, the receipt of an inheritance could put them over the limit. The result is as much as 50% of the money you leave behind could go to Uncle Sam when your child passes it on to your grandchildren and when your grandchildren pass it on to your great-grandchildren.

As you can see, there are many reasons that its important to protect an inheritance. And it shouldnt be the childs responsibility to do so. Once they receive it, there are few options available to them to protect it. Instead, the parents need to take responsibility to protect what they leave behind.

Traditional methods of protecting the estate you leave behind meant your heirs would lose control. An outsider would be responsible for how the money was invested and would control the distributions to your heir. These methods were cumbersome and expensivewhich is why most people didnt use them and instead distributed their estate outright.

The solution to these problems is a new tool called a Beneficiary Trust. This trust allows the estate you leave behind to be protected from loss due to divorce, the claims of creditors or even bankruptcy. It allows your wealth to be passed from generation to generation without losing up to 50% of it in taxes each time it is transferred. It wont affect eligibility for government benefits or scholarships.

Best of all, your heir retains full control. The heir makes all the financial and investment decisions. Virtually anything that can be accomplished by the heir without this trust can be done with it. And the costs involved are small enough that it should be used even for small estates.

A Beneficiary Trust is an extremely flexible vehicle, yet isnt understood by many attorneys. If you have questions about how a Beneficiary Trust can be used in your situation, feel free to give me a call or send me an email.

Budgeting with Credit Cards

By Peter Kenny

These days, with so much easy credit available it is very easy to let your finances and debts get a little out of hand. Pretty much every morning when you wake up and check your mail, you will be greeted by a plethora of junk mail advertisements seeking to entice you into signing up for a personal loan, a new credit card, a debt consolidation loan or some other similar form of credit. Then on the television the same ads will be targeted at you all day long. When you check your email they will be there, filling up your inbox, and pretty much every high street store you enter will be offering you their own store card.

Budgeting, and keeping all of these various expenses under control just gets more and more difficult with the more options there are available and the more things you have to keep track of. However, simple household budgeting is still a good option for anyone who wants to keep their debts under control. The basic principle of budgeting is that your expenditure matches your income. It does not necessarily mean that you spend less money and make a lot of cutbacks in your lifestyle, although this is frequently what it entails.

Budgeting is more concerned with giving you the control you need to keep track of your expenses. There are a couple of ways in which you can make a budget and stick to it if you have credit cards. Credit cards give you a number of payment options for your convenience. You can set up a direct debit between your credit card company and your bank and inform them either to pay off the full amount on your statement each month, pay off the minimum amount on the statement each month, or pay a fixed amount against your credit card each month.

Paying the fixed amount is a very convenient way of budgeting, as you will know exactly how much each month will go to your credit cards. You simply select a sum that you can afford each month and have the bank transfer that against your credit cards. The only downfall of this method is that there is no guarantee that you will spend less than the amount you repay each month. So for example, if you are paying two hundred pounds against your card each month, but spending more than this, you will be building up a large credit card debt for yourself that you will have to repay at some stage in the future.

Alternative Ways To Fix Your Credit!

By Mary Wise

Though there is not a quick way of reestablishing credit, these tips can aid you in the process. Patience is necessary since raising your credit score wont happen in a day or two. It can take months or even years to rebuild your credit history depending on the amount and seriousness of the delinquencies that have affected your credit.

Make Sure Creditors Are Reporting All Your Timely Payments

You can have creditors adding good information to your credit report. Creditors are not required to report information to any of the three credit bureaus. After obtaining copies of your credit reports, make sure to note if there are any creditors with whom you have a good history that havent reported this to the credit bureaus.

If this is the case, contact them and ask them to release the information to the credit bureaus. For a small fee, a credit bureau will contact your creditor. Simply call and give the credit bureau your creditors name and phone number. Positive repayment information can help neutralize some of the negative information on your credit report.

Tell Your Story

Add a statement to your credit report telling your side of the story. You may include a 100-word statement in your credit report to explain negative credit reports. Write each credit bureau a letter and ask them to include your statement in your credit file. State the facts about your situation. If your credit history shows that you typically pay your bills, a statement can explain away an isolated instance or period of bad credit.

Most financial transactions and situations are susceptible of being proved. Thus, dont waste your time making up stories, if you have a good justification for the delinquencies that appear on your credit report, add the statement. Otherwise, refrain from doing so and concentrate on improving your credit score by making all your payments on time.

Keep Creditors on Your Side

You can also work with your creditors to clear your credit record. If your poor credit resulted from circumstances that were beyond your control, like illness or losing your job, make sure to keep in contact with your creditors. Once you have reconciled your account, your creditor may be willing to remove negative information from your credit report or at least report you've brought your account current.

If you can't make your payments, contact the creditor and propose a pay-off schedule. If the creditor has charged-off your debt, they may work with you. You may be able to work out a proposal in which you make partial payments, and the creditor changes the information it provides to your credit bureau. Be sure to get your agreement in writing.

What Your Broker Doesnt Want You To Know About Your Mutual Funds!

By Antonio Filippone

Many investors get sucked in by the hype that some mutual fund companies propagate. Even though the regulators require most mutual fund advertising and brochures to include the infamous phrase, Past performance is no guarantee of future results guess what most people tend to base their fund picks on?

After all its hard to ignore when fund companies repeatedly brag about their most recent successes. But what is the problem with using past performance as an indicator? After all if someone has been doing a great job of managing money whos to say he wont continue?

This is exactly what your broker wants you to believe. He wants you to think that there is some level of predictability to performance, but is there? Consider this, in order to judge how well a fund is doing it is often compared to a corresponding index such as the S&P 500. (The S&P 500 index, simply put, is 500 companies that are tracked to help give us a gauge on how large companies stocks are doing) What your broker might tell you is that about 15% of actively managed stock mutual funds beat their respective indices every year. So you would naturally think thats great, I want one of those funds managed by a guy who beat the index. Unfortunately what your broker is afraid youll find out is that the 15% who beat the index last year are not necessarily the same 15% who will beat it this year. So while there may be a couple of index beating funds every year the chance that those funds will remain among that 15% for an extended period is astronomically low. This inconsiste ncy is what makes it so hard to select a good fund. Last years biggest winner may well be this years biggest dog.

Consider this, according to Jason Zweig of Money Magazine almost 40% of 614 aggressive growth funds crashed between 1962 & 1995, if you had chosen your funds from among each years stars, you would have bought lots of funds that expired. But this is not just a phenomenon of aggressive funds. As of the 1st quarter of 1999, there were over 3,000 stock mutual funds for investors to choose from. Out of those 3000+ funds only 414 had a performance history of 15 years or longer, and only 17 (or 4%) of the 414 stock funds that had a 15 year performance history beat the market S&P 500 Index by 1%. And that was during one of the best times in history for the stock market and mutual funds.

So if past performance is really no indication of a great fund than how can you choose where to invest your money? One way to avoid all of the hype is instead of trying to beat the S&P and loosing in the process why not just buy the S&P or better yet an S&P index fund. Not only will your results be more predictable but your fees will be much lower. After all does it really make sense to pay someone to beat the market, if the odds are he wont? And how much better off would you be if you dont have to pay for that advice?
